2008 GENERAL RULES

Due to Insurance Regulations, Each Puller Must Be A Member of Pocono Old Tyme Farm Equipment Assoc., Inc.

 

TRUCKS MUST HAVE HITCH IN PLACE ON TRUCK WHEN WEIGHING

IN ON SCALE, HITCH MUST HAVE 3"- 3 1/2" OPENING OR LARGER

NO VERTICAL HITCHES OR OPENINGS

 Driver must be at least 18 years old or 16 years old with a minors release form signed by a parent or guardian. All contestants at every event must sign a waiver, understanding that they are competing at their own risk and that they will not bring suit against any official, employees, promoter, and/or property owner. By signing this release you agree to all rules and conditions set forth.

All vehicles in the Street Stock and Stock Diesel class must be street legal, and have a current registration, inspection, and insurance card. Pro Stock and Modified classes are exempt from the inspection rule.

The entry fee for all classes shall be determined by the promoter for that event.

All vehicles must pass tech inspection before competing. If presiding officials determine a vehicle is unsafe or does not qualify for a class, the officials have the right to not allow vehicle to compete. The Tech inspection area closes ½ hour before pull is scheduled to start.

Entry registration to close ½ hour before event is scheduled to start.

All drivers must attend the drivers meeting before pull.

Seat belts are required and must be worn.

All vehicles must have a hydraulic braking system in good working condition.

Vehicles must have a solid firewall and floor. Only holes allowed are those for brake, clutch and transmissions controls and wiring. No fuel tanks or batteries allowed in cab unless factory installed.

Pump gasoline only, all forms of Nitro are illegal as a fuel or fuel additive. No nitrous oxide or combustion accelerator allowed. Diesel fuel only, is allowed in diesel trucks. (Modified trucks are exempt.)

Tires must have a D.O.T. approval number (Modified Trucks exempt).

Weights and ballast must be securely fastened. No weights outside the body and no weights inside cab.

Engine must be in original location as intended by manufacturer.

Body, hood, bed and fenders must meet O. E. M. specifications. All flat beds must be Pennsylvania vehicle code, with full floor. All glass must in a place, no Plexiglas (Modified Trucks exempt).

One four-barrel carburetor only allowed.

All engine fans must have shroud.

NO CHANGING OR ADJUSTING WEIGHTS ON THE SCALE.

A driver must be in the driver’s seat when engine is running, in the pits, staging area, scale and track. NO EXCEPTIONS.

All contestants must drive vehicle onto track and into position to compete under its own power, and must leave track under its own power except for breakage.

Maximum weight per class includes driver.

Only the driver will be allowed in a vehicle when it is being towed or driven while in the pit area, staging area, or track. No riders in or on any vehicle while in the pit area, staging area, or track, this is to include tow vehicles, competing vehicles, tow back and maintenance equipment of any kind.

No one allowed on the track except for track officials and contestant. Track is defined as the area within 35’ in any direction on the contest boundaries, including the runoff are at the end of the track.

All pulls must start with a tight chain, no jerking of any kind is permitted or allowed, and vehicle must remain within boundaries of the track or the puller will be disqualified.

Puller will be allowed a total of two attempts within the 75’ mark to start the sled. Test puller may drop 3 positions.

Puller must wait for the green flag from the starting flagman before starting to pull. Leaving the starting line while under the red flag will be an automatic disqualification. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Vehicle must stop immediately upon signal of red flag from flagman. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. Any competitor not stopping at the full pull line and continuing to pull out of the arena gate shall be disqualified and ejected from the pulling event.

Competition vehicles must be operated in a safe manner at all times within the confines of the track, pit area and staging area. Track officials have the right to stop and or disqualify any vehicle being operated in a reckless manner. Pit and staging area speed limit is 5 MPH.

The Competition Director or track officials may disqualify a contestant for either emotional or physical reason. Example: Recklessness, drugs or drinking alcoholic beverages. Any driver or any of his or her pit crew consuming an intoxicating agent and or drugs prior to or during the event will be disqualified from the event. All drivers will be responsible for the actions of their crew.

If any vehicle and/or driver are disqualified for any reason there will be no refund of entry fee or pit fee.

TRACK OFFICIALS WILL HAVE THE OPTION TO CHECK COMPETITOR FOR WEIGHT AND RULE VIOLATIONS AT ANY TIME DURING EVENT. THE CONTEST SHALL BE GOVERNED BY THE TRACK OFFICIALS, AND THE COMPETITION DIRECTOR, WITH ALL DECISIONS BEING FINAL!

The promoter or competition director reserves the right to change any safety rule or rule they feel is necessary to promote safe and fair competition.

4X4 TRUCK PULLING RULES FOR CLASSES

 

STREET STOCK TRUCK DIVISION

  1. Weight Classes: 6500lbs trucks
  2. D.O.T. stamped approved street tires ONLY. No cut, grooved, bar, or tractor type tread.
  3. Must be stock appearing with all windows, hood, fenders, doors, full bed with floor, tailgate or net required. Flat bed or homemade bed allowed, but must cover tires and be stock length.
  4. Pump gas or race fuel ONLY. NO alcohol, nitro or nitrous. If nitrous equipped, bottle MUST be removed.
  5. Any type intake manifold and ONE single four barrel carburetor (or smaller).  Air cleaner a must. Factory fuel injection or throttle body system allowed.
  6. Current registration, inspection, and insurance card required. Truck must be street legal.
  7. All added weight must be secured in truck bed. No weights allowed in cab. No front weights or weight boxes allowed.
  8. Maximum hitch height allowed can be 26" from top of hitch to level ground. Hitch hooking point is to be the furthest point to the back of the truck, (or the first thing to hit if you would back into a wall!!) Hitch must be receiver type O.E.M. designed factory manufactured towing hitch, or standard factory bumper hitch. NO special pulling or modified receiver hitches allowed. Must have 3-3 ½ inch opening. No vertical hitch or opening.
  9. Receiver hitch MUST be in place on truck at scale weigh-in.
  10. Snowplow frames and brush guards are allowed. No home made bumpers, brackets or weight boxes allowed in this class. Must have stock appearing front bumper.
  11. No open exhaust permitted. Cat-back after market exhaust systems are permitted. Mufflers are required and headers are allowed.
  12. Drive shaft loops recommended, but are not mandatory.
  13. ABC fire extinguisher (minimum 2 1/2 #) must be in cab, within driver’s reach.
  14. Seat belts AND helmet must be used when pulling.

PRO STOCK TRUCK DIVISION

  1. Weight Classes: 6200lbs. & 6500lbs.
  2. Truck body must be complete with hood, doors, and bed. The bed must have the floor or top cover in place.
  3. Weight box or weight bracket allowed with a maximum of 60" from center of front axle. Weights in bed MUST be secured so they won’t slide or fall out. NO weights are allowed in the cab.
  4. Any size D.O.T. approved tire allowed. No cut, grooved, bar tread, or tractor type tires allowed.
  5. Pump gas or race fuel allowed. NO alcohol, Nitro or Nitrous allowed. If equipped with Nitrous, bottle MUST be removed.
  6. Open headers allowed. Exhaust must discharge under truck to rear. No side or down discharge of exhaust toward ground.
  7. Any intake manifold and single carburetor combination allowed. Single carburetor may be any size. Engine must be naturally aspirated, No supercharger or turbo allowed.
  8. Kill switch or breakaway switch required within 24" of hitch. ALL kill switches will be tested at the scale at weight in for operation. Truck MUST have engine fan shroud. Standard transmission MUST have a blow-proof bell housing or S.F.I. blanket, ALL automatic transmissions must have S.F.I. blanket.
  9. Drive shaft loops for front and rear drive shafts and U-joint shields are required. All U-joints must be shielded 360 degrees with 3/8 aluminum or 5/16 steel. All shields must be 6" long minimum and centered over U-joints. Inside of shield must not be more than 2" larger than U-joint. 1 loop for front drive shaft, and 3 loops for rear drive shaft.
  10. All drive line components must be for 1 ton and under truck. No drop boxes or reversers.
  11. Maximum hitch height allowed is 26" from top of hitch to level ground. ( Hitch can be lower) Hitch must be receiver type towing hitch or a special constructed pulling hitch. NO BUMPER HITCHES. Hitch must be rigid in ALL directions with a minimum of 3" to 31/2" opening. No vertical hitch or openings.
  12. Suspension modifications are allowed. Any blocked or solid suspension must be safely fabricated and securely fastened to frame as determined by the tech inspector. No springs required.
  13. ABC fire extinguisher must be located in cab and in reach of driver. (A minimum of 21/2lbs.)
  14. Seat belts AND helmet must be used while pulling.
  15. Must have OPERATING brakes.
  16. Pull truck must have rear bumpers (8" vertical with a maximum of 24" off the ground.)
  17. Radiator must be ahead of motor (between grill and motor).
  18. No gas tanks, fuel lines, or batteries allowed in truck cab, unless factory installed. If fuel cell is used to replace original gas tank, fuel cell must be securely mounted in the bed of the truck

MODIFIED TRUCK DIVISION

  1. Weight Class: 6500 lbs. Trucks pull two times
  2. Truck body must be complete with hood, doors, and bed. The bed must have a floor or top cover in place.
  3. Pump Gas, Racing Fuel and Alcohol are permitted. No Nitrous Oxide allowed.
  4. Kill switch or breakaway switch required within 24" of hitch. All kill switches shall be tested on the scale for operation.
  5. Any truck pulling tire or tractor tread tires permitted, cut or grooved tires are allowed.
  6. Weight box and or weight bracket may not extend more than 60" from the center of the front axle. No weight allowed in the cab. If weight is placed in the bed it must be secured so it won’t slide around or fall out.
  7. Maximum hitch height of 26" from top of hitch loop to level ground, hitch must be rigid in all directions and have a minimum length of 36" from axle center to point of hook. Hitch must have 3 -3 1/2" opening for hook. No vertical hitch or opening.
  8. Any suspension system is allowed, welded or blocked suspension must be safely fabricated and securely fastened to frame as determined by Tech Inspector.
  9. Drive shaft loops and u-joint shields must be constructed from 3/8" aluminum, or 5/16" steel. U-joint shields must be 6" in length and be centered over u-joint assembly covering 360 degrees. All drive shafts require two loops fastened with 3/8" minimum hardware. Axle shields are required. Drop boxes and reversers are allowed.
  10. Open headers are allowed. All open headers must exit within 10 degrees of plumb vertically or straight to the rear and under the truck. Absolutely no side or down discharge of exhaust. Any headers thru the hood allowed, or stacks behind the cab with minimum of cab height permitted.
  11. S.F.I. bell housing or blow proof blanket required for all automatic transmissions. No cast iron or aluminum bell housings without a blanket permitted.
  12. Fire extinguisher must be within reach of driver in cab.
  13. All drivers must wear a helmet and use seat belts while pulling. A racing suit is recommended when using exotic fuel such as alcohol.

8000lbs. STOCK DIESEL 4X4 TRUCKS AND GAS TRUCKS OVER 6500lbs.

All trucks competing in this class must:

  1. Diesel fuel only in diesel trucks. (No water injection, alcohol, propane or nitrous. (Nitrous bottle must be removed, if so equipped)
  2. Pump gas only for gas trucks. (No alcohol or racing fuels allowed.)
  3. No studded, cut, or grooved tires or any other tires not intended for street use. No tire chains. Tires must have stamped D.O.T number on sidewall and be a maximum height of 35".
  4. All added weight must be placed inside of truck bed and secured to prevent weight from sliding around in truck bed. No weight brackets, boxes and hanging weights. NO weights allowed in cab.
  5. Original front and rear axles must be used; raising or lowering of truck height with suspension modifications is permitted.
  6. A fully functional front and rear suspension is required. No blocking suspension, traction stabilizer bars, spring-clamps, or locking of springs is allowed.
  7. Front and rear bumpers must remain unaltered and in the factory position. No home manufactured bumpers allowed. Snowplow frames and brush guards are allowed. Tailgate or cargo net must be in place.
  8. The hitch point must be from OEM factory style receiver hitch, mounted in the factory designed position. ABSOLUTELY no other hitch designs are permitted. Maximum hitch point allowance is 26" from top of hitch to level ground. Hitch must be rigid in all directions, NO trick hitches allowed. Pulling ring must have a 3" to 3 1/2" opening. No vertical hitch or opening. Hitch hook point must be the furthest point to the back of the truck, (or the first thing to hit if you backed into a wall!!)
  9. Receiver hitch MUST be in place on truck at scale weigh-in.
  10. Clutch, transmission, drive shafts and all drive line must be OEM for make/model of truck.
  11. Any computer programmer or chip is permitted. Air cleaner and components required.
  12. Factory turbo only: NO spacers, NO adapters, NO turbo alterations, PERIOD!
  13. ABSOLUTELY no engine modifications are allowed!
  14. Factory exhaust system must be in place and fully functional per OEM design. NO straight pipe muffler eliminators or stacks allowed. ALL TRUCKS MUST HAVE MUFFLERS!
  15. ABC fire extinguisher (minimum 21/2lbs.) must be located in cab within reach of driver. Seat belt and helmet must be used when pulling.

8000 lbs. SUPER STOCK DIESEL 4X4 TRUCK

 

All trucks competing in this class must:

  1. Any type of computer programmer or chip allowed.
  2. One turbo only, must bolt directly to manifold.
  3. Any exhaust system allowed, vertical discharge preferred, exhaust must not discharge toward grandstand area, no open header pipes allowed.
  4. No dual wheels, studded tires or chains, or any tire not intended for street use shall be permitted. No grooved, bar-tread or cut tires. All tires must have DOT numbers on sidewall. A maximum tire height of 35" allowed.
  5. Air bags and the lines to them must be disconnected and capped and not connected to any air tank or supply pump. Suspension limiting blocks permitted, no welded or rigid rear suspension allowed. No chaining of front or rear axles, all suspension must have at least 2" minimum travel as a working suspension and have at least 3 spring leaves.
  6. All added weight must be placed in the bed of the truck and must be secured to prevent weights sliding around. No weight allowed in the cab. Front weight boxes or hanging weights allowed, not to exceed 60" from the front axle centerline to the front of weights or box. All weights must be secured at all times. Tailgate or cargo net required.
  7. Trucks with a manual transmission running in excess of 4000 rpm must have S.F.I. blow proof bell housing or bell housing scatter blanket installed. Automatic transmissions shall require a S.F.I. blanket installed.
  8. Drive shaft loops and axle shields are recommended. Should have one loop on the front drive shaft, and two loops on the rear drive shaft. The remainder of the drive- line must be OEM for one-ton or less truck. No drop boxes and or reversers.

    Hitch requirements:

  9. The hitch must be a factory or aftermarket design for towing, no bumper hitches. Special pulling hitches are allowed and must be stationary in all directions. No connecting of hitch to rear axle or suspension, no trick hitches allowed.
  10. Hitch pulling point must be no more than 26" from level ground with a 3" - 3 ½" pulling ring for the hook. No vertical hitches or openings.
  11. Hitch hook point must be the furthest point to the rear of the truck, or the first thing to hit if you were to back into a wall.
  12. All trucks must have working brakes, must have all glass and working windows, and working doors. Must have tailgate or cargo net and complete floor in bed.
  13. Air shut-off or kill switch recommended but not mandatory for this class.
